Thirty years of special Steelers moments and games were remembered during the 2000 season in a series of activities planned by the Steelers to commemorate the last season of Three Rivers Stadium.
The Steelers officially launched their Last Season Celebration by identifying some of the Steelers greatest moments in the 30-year history at Three Rivers Stadium.
Media who regularly cover the team began the process by nominating a list of top Steelers games and plays from the 30 years of action in Three Rivers Stadium. Fans than had an opportunity to vote for their favorite games and plays.
From the players and media input and interactive fan voting, the top 10 plays and games were identified. These moments were then highlighted throughout the 2000 Steelers season in conjunction with other celebration ceremonies.
According to Steelers president Dan Rooney, The 2000 season is "special for everyone—our fans, the team and the entire community. We want our fans to be involved in as much of the celebration process as possible. They have been so supportive throughout the years and have helped create so many wonderful memories in our 30 years at Three Rivers."
The last regular-season Steelers game at Three Rivers Stadium is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16 against the Washington Redskins.
