third-team accolades by the media...good size and plays the run well...two-time
Player of the Week in 2006 as voted by the coaches against NC State (9/16) and
East Carolina (10/28)…majored
in architectural engineering technology. 2007: Started all 13 games for
Southern Miss during his senior season…made 40 tackles, including 24 solos…had
11 tackles for loss totaling minus-64 yards and added 6.5 sacks for minus-51
yards…recorded four quarterback hurries…notched one forced fumble, two fumble
recoveries and blocked one kick…named to first-team All-Conference USA by the
media. 2006:
Started at defensive tackle in all 14 games...notched 49 tackles on the season,
including 23 solos...led the team in tackles for loss with 15.0...had three
sacks...forced a fumble against ECU...recorded a fumble recovery against Tulsa
(10/3) and Marshall (11/25)...tallied only interception of the season versus
Tulsa...had season-high six total tackles three times versus Tulsa (10/3), East
Carolina (10/28) and at Houston (12/1) in the C-USA championship
game…posted
four tackles, including one solo, 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack, along with
one pass breakup in the GMAC Bowl.
2005: Saw
action in all 12 games…finished with three solo tackles, all for a loss against
Arkansas State in the New Orleans Bowl...made 16 total tackles on the year (five
solos, 11 assists)...also had four tackles for a loss...finished with two solo
tackles and a tackle for loss in the Memphis game (11/19)...finished with two
assists against McNeese State (9/17), East Carolina (10/1) and Marshall
(11/8).
2004: Played
in nine games...saw action in more than 175 plays, including a season-high 33
snaps against TCU (11/20)...finished the season with six total tackles, all
solos...also had a tackle for loss, an interception and pass breakup...posted
two tackles against Houston (10/7) and Cal (12/4)...had a tackle for loss and an
interception against Tulane (9/25).
2003: Sat out his true freshman season as a
redshirt.
PERSONAL:
Played
for Coach Kevin McMahon at Ft. Pierce Westwood High School...three-year starter
and four-year letterwinner...helped lead Westwood to a 10-3 overall record as
they advanced to the third round of the Class 3A state playoffs...finished
senior season with 11 sacks and junior season with 10 sacks...also punted for a
40-yard average...No. 41 on the Florida Top 100 list by The Orlando Sentinel...first-team
all-state by the Florida Sportswriters...Defensive Player of the Year in
district…two-time all-district...two-time Ft. Pierce Tribune All-Area... played in
the Outback All-Star Game in Palm Beach, Fla...also lettered three years each in
basketball and baseball and was named all-conference in both sports…averaged a
double-double in basketball for three years...student body president...son of
Chester and Jacqueline Prince and Juwanda Mathieu.
