Steelers TicketExchange Q & A

What is Steelers TicketExchange and how does it work?

Steelers TicketExchange is the Steelers' new online service that enables secure fan-to-fan ticket resale transactions. Buyers simply select the ticket(s) they want based on price, seat location and availability, without having to bid against other buyers, without having to coordinate delivery from anonymous sellers, and without having to worry that the tickets are fake. Sellers are guaranteed payment for tickets sold, without having to collect payment or deliver the tickets to the buyer.

Why have the Steelers launched TicketExchange?

We appreciate that fans need and deserve a secure and team authorized environment where they can sell their tickets if they find they cannot attend a game.  Upon the request of our season ticket holders and Steelers fans across the country, we are thrilled to provide this service to the team's fans.  We are pleased to offer our season ticket holders an additional benefit and convenience to their season package by providing a fan resale ticketing channel where they can post tickets for sale to games they are unable to attend.  We're also excited that fans using TicketExchange will now have a reliable site to purchase tickets in seating locations where they may otherwise not have access.

How can I get tickets to a Steelers game through Steelers TicketExchange?

To purchase tickets to a Steelers home game, simply log on to www.steelers.com/ticketexchange and locate the date of the game that you are interested in attending.  This will launch a listing of all of the tickets that our season tickets holders have posted for sale.  Steelers TicketExchange provides you with an economical way to purchase tickets. Steelers TicketExchange and Ticketmaster.com are the only ticket resale Web sites that are approved by the Steelers organization.  The Steelers encourage fans to check Steelers TicketExchange regularly for available and affordable seating options, as tickets may be purchased until just two hours before kickoff.

How does a seller get paid?

Payments received for sales through TicketExchange, less applicable fees, will be credited to the Seller's season ticket holder account and applied against future charges (e.g., post-season tickets, season tickets for the following year.)

What if I am not a Steelers season ticket holder and want to use Steelers TicketExchange to sell my tickets?

How do I know that the Tickets I buy on Steelers TicketExchange are valid?

The only way to be assured of a valid ticket is to purchase through Steelers' TicketExchange,Ticketmaster or directly from the Steelers at the Heinz Field box office.. Steelers TicketExchange assures buyers valid tickets because the ticket sales are integrated with the Steelers' barcode ticketing system. When a ticket is purchased on TicketExchange, the original barcode is cancelled and a new code is assigned to the buyer.

What happens if someone sells copies of a ticket they print out at home?

Fans are cautioned not to purchase electronic/computer-printed tickets from any source other than Steelers' TicketExchange. Likewise, fans purchasing tickets through TicketExchange are cautioned not to copy or print duplicate tickets. To clarify, any active barcode will be honored for entry only once.  For electronic tickets that have been duplicated or copied, only the first ticket presented at the gate at Heinz Field will be allowed admission. Other tickets with the same barcode will be rejected and confiscated. In the event electronic/computer-printed tickets are copied or duplicated and presented for multiple admissions, the person who purchased the tickets will be contacted and held responsible. Counterfeit ticket sales are unlawful and will be subject to prosecution.

What happens if the person who purchases my tickets via Steelers TicketExchange gets into trouble during a game?  Do the Steelers have a new policy?

The ticket buyer is accountable for the behavior of individuals using the tickets.

Are there seats available anywhere other than on Steelers TicketExchange?

The only legitimate, Steelers-approved secondary market site to purchase tickets is Steelers TicketExchange.

What makes Steelers TicketExchange different from other resale sites?

The key difference is that Steelers TicketExchange and Ticketmaster.com are the only team-authorized resale Web sites.  All tickets resold on TicketExchange are processed through Ticketmaster's secure and trusted ticketing system.  After the TicketExchange resale transaction is complete, Ticketmaster is able to cancel the season ticket holder's original ticket barcode and then issue a new ticket with a new and unique barcode for the buyer.  This provides a high level of security for the buyer -- they know for certain that the ticket they have purchased is valid and will gain them admittance to the game.  Other resellers can not make that claim.  Other resellers may offer money back if their tickets are invalid, but that's not much consolation if people miss the game or spent time and money to travel to the event.

Is TicketExchange in use anywhere else?

Ticketmaster's TicketExchange service system is currently used by more than 200 venues and close to 50 teams across most every professional sports league.  We believe that offering a team-approved resale service will help protect Steelers fans across the country from the risks associated with unauthorized resellers and counterfeit tickets.  With Ticketmaster, the Pittsburgh Steelers now offer a one stop shop for Steelers fans to have access to available tickets to attend Steelers home games.

Will Steelers TicketExchange be available for other events at Heinz Field?

Currently, not all event tickets are able to be bought or sold via Steelers TicketExchange. Be sure to check back often as new events are continually being added.

Who do I contact if I have a problem using Steelers TicketExchange?

A Steelers TicketExchange Hotline has been created to answer any questions Steeler fans may have about the new system and is available Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST and will offer expanded hours on weekend days prior to home games at 412-323-1200.

Who do I contact if I have a problem with my tickets at Heinz Field on game day?

To make the transition to our new ticketing system as seamless as possible, we will have Steelers TicketExchange staff available at each entry gate to Heinz Field during all home games of the upcoming season.  We will also designate several windows at the Gate B Box Office to the new ticketing system to assist fans on game days.

What has the response been to Steelers TicketExchange so far?  How are season ticket holders and fans responding?

We will provide feedback once the system has been available for a few weeks.

Can tickets be sold on TicketExchange for more than face value?  Is there any restriction on Steelers TicketExchange resale prices?

Pennsylvania law limits the maximum premium at which tickets may be resold or offered for resale to twenty-five percent (25%) of the face value of the ticket or the sum of five dollars ($5.00), whichever shall be more, plus lawful taxes.  Buyers will also incur applicable TicketExchange fees and delivery charges.

Steelers Season Ticket Holders have always received an invoice by mail to make their payment for the upcoming season.  Will that change?

Steelers' season ticket holders will continue to receive an invoice for their season tickets and their tickets by mail as they always have.  They will now have the added option of paying for their season tickets online at www.steelers.com through their My Steelers Ticket Account.
