American Respiratory
Alliance Women's Training Camp
Capitalizing on the popularity of
Football 101 for Women, the Steelers were the first team to hold Women's
Training Camp at St.
Vincent
College in Latrobe. 200 women of all ages
around the country participate in calisthenics and learn various football skills
as taught by Steelers alumni. After their "workout" they have a private
autograph session with the Steelers alumni and watch the team's Highlight Film
before heading back to the field to watch the team practice. Visit

Boys & Girls Club
The Steelers annually sponsor the Boys and Girls Club of
Western Pennsylvania Dapper Dan Flag Football League and host the league
championships at the UPMC Sports Performance Complex indoor practice
facility.
Cancer Caring Center
A portion of the proceeds from the
annual Steelers Style Fashion Show goes to the Cancer Caring Center. The
Cancer Caring Center is dedicated to helping people
diagnosed with cancer, their families and friends cope with the emotional impact
of cancer. Services include general and specialized support groups at 18 sites,
professional counseling, a telephone helpline, children's programs, "Live Well
With Cancer" workshops and newsletters, resource library and more. The Center is
a local charity with no national office; all funds raised in
Pittsburgh stay in

Cardinal Wright Gala Pittsburgh Sports
Night
The Steelers, along with other
Pittsburgh sports teams, join forces with Cardinal Wright Regional School for a
Gala Pittsburgh Sports Night, featuring players from the various teams and a
sports auction. The event benefits Cardinal Wright Regional School on the North
Side of Pittsburgh and honors someone each year who has made a significant
contribution to the North
Side.
Caring Program for
Children

The Steelers were a founding partner
of the Caring Program for Children, which provides health care for children who
do not have health insurance and also funds the
Caring
Place, a center for
grieving children. The annual Hoge/Starks/Ward golf outing is held at
Southpointe Golf Club and is chaired by wide receiver Hines Ward and offensive
lineman Max Starks, along with former Steelers running back Merril Hoge. The
players also attend a luncheon honoring students who have raised money for their
peers.
Central Blood Bank Blood
Drive
The Steelers hold an annual blood
drive in the Steelers locker room at Heinz Field around the holidays. Players'
wives participate by serving in the canteen. Please check the website this fall

Children's
Hospital
Steelers players make frequent
visits to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh to bring a smile to kids who are
battling health issues. It's truly a sight that warms your heart. The team
annually holds a collection at Heinz Field at a regular season home game for the
Free Care Fund. Steelers fans are very generous each year to help the kids at
Children's Hospital.
Duquesne University
Mind, Heart & Spirit Award
The Steelers and WDVE Radio partner
to present the Duquesne University Mind Heart and Spirit Award to a high school
student athlete for each Steelers home game. Each week, guidance counselors from
area high schools are encouraged to nominate a senior whom they feel is
dedicated to academics and athletics. At the end of the year, the top scholar is
awarded with a $1,000 scholarship.
Extra Mile
Education Foundation
Every time the Steelers score from
the Red Zone at Heinz Field, H.J. Heinz Company makes a donation to the Extra
Mile Education Foundation. The foundation provides support for four parochial
elementary schools educating children of inner-city families. Extra Mile
Education Foundation subsidies, obtained through philanthropic support, make
tuition in the schools affordable for disadvantaged families seeking a quality,
values-based education. Extra Mile is dedicated to helping to sustain these
schools for the community on an ongoing basis, as a needed supplement to the
financial commitments of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, the parents and families of
the children and the schools.
For Kids
Sake
The Steelers are a partner in KDKA
TV's For Kids Sake Program, a public service campaign that promotes the family
through healthy self-esteem and positive parenting. The program continues to
have a positive impact on the lives of local families.
Gatorade/Steelers 5K
Race, Fitness Walk and Kids' Kickoff Run
The annual
Gatorade/Steelers 5K Race, Fitness Walk and Kids' Kickoff Run is held on Labor
Day Weekend at Heinz Field. The race is part of the Steelers Kickoff Week
festivities at Heinz Field, including the annual Coors Light Kickoff Rib and
Music Festival. The race, which benefits the Art Rooney Scholarship Fund, helps
provide college scholarships for a graduating senior at the high schools located
on Pittsburgh's North Side. The competitive event
is sanctioned by USA Track and Field with a 3.1-mile level course on the North
Side highlighted by a spectacular finish on the warning track in Heinz Field. In
addition to Gatorade, Giant Eagle, WDVE-FM and KDKA-TV serve as associate
sponsors. Online registration for the Gatorade/Steelers 5K will be available in

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food
Bank
The team annually holds a food drive
at a home game to encourage fans to help the needy during the holidays. Offensive
tackle Max Starks hosts an annual food drive and turkey giveaway
the week of Thanksgiving. Several teammates help Max distribute
food to nearly 200 needy families in the Pittsburgh area.
High School Tile Murals Program
A unique element of Heinz Field is
the display of tile murals created by area high schools to celebrate football in
Western
Pennsylvania. Sixty schools participated in the
project by creating, painting, glazing and firing tile murals featuring football
at their school, in Pittsburgh or the
Steelers in particular. The murals were installed throughout Heinz Field and are
a very popular feature.
Holy Family
Institute-Pittsburgh Steelers Courage House
Greta Rooney chairs the annual
Courage House Awards luncheon. Each year a Steelers player is chosen as the Ed
Block Courage Award winner for overcoming illness or injury. DE Travis Kirschke was the 2006
awardee.

Make-A-Wish
The Steelers organization works
closely with The Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant wishes. The wishes include
meeting favorite players and a behind the scenes look at the Steelers practice
facility and tickets to a home game.
McDonald's
Steelers KidZONE Show

In 2002, the Steelers created the
first-ever team television program geared specifically for children, the
McDonald's Steelers KidZONE show. It's a half-hour program, hosted by six
Pittsburgh-area kids, that airs every Sunday locally on
Pittsburgh's CW at 10:30
a.m. It is
filmed in front of a live audience at Heinz Field with a different Steelers
player as the guest each week.
Mentoring
Partnership of Southwestern
Pennsylvania
Mentoring Partnership of
Southwestern Pa. benefits from kicker Jeff
Reed's leg each season. For every field goal, Morgan Stanley donates $300 to the
organization, which supports quality mentoring relationships for youth in need
in Allegheny County. It is an affiliate of The National
Mentoring Partnership.
Rebuilding
Together Pittsburgh
The Steelers, along with 84 Lumber,
serve as sponsors of Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh. This annual program
renovates the homes of low-income elderly in the
Pittsburgh area with a goal of safety for the
homeowner. Dwight White, former Steelers defensive lineman, serves as local
spokesman for the charity. Steelers staff and other alumni participate in the
program each year along with 84 Lumber
employees.
Salvation Army -
Project Bundle-Up
Players and their families annually
take disadvantaged children shopping for winter outerwear as part of the
Salvation Army's Project Bundle-Up program. Patricia Rooney, wife of Steelers
chairman Dan Rooney, and Joe DiNardo, retired WTAE -TV weatherman, are founders
of the program. TE Heath Miller
hosts the annual miniature golf classic event.
Steelers Shop For A Cause
The Steelers partner American Eagle Outfitters for Steelers Shop for a Cause. Underprivileged
children from United
Way of
Allegheny County agencies
receive an American Eagle Outfitters gift card and have the chance to shop with Steelers players for
holiday gifts for themselves and their families.

Steelers Experience, a free
interactive theme park, is open at Training Camp on days when the team has an
afternoon practice at St.
Vincent
College, as well as along

Steelers Style
Fashion Show/Taste of the Steelers
The team annually holds two
fundraisers as part of Steelers Style: Fashion, Food and Football. The Steelers' annual fashion show
features current players and their families modeling clothing from local
retailers. The Show is chaired by Greta
Rooney
with two current Steelers players serving as co-captains. Proceeds benefit the
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation
Institute and the Cancer Caring Center. The UPMC Starzl Transplantation
Institute is the world's largest and busiest program, where surgeons perform
more types of solid organ transplants than any other institution. The Starzl
Institute is internationally renowned for its groundbreaking research and
recognized for its seminal contributions in patient care leading to improved
patient outcomes. Taste of the Steelers features a sampling of culinary
delights, along with an exciting auction of unique, one-of-a-kind
items.
Susan G. Komen
Pittsburgh Foundation-Race for the Cure
The
Steelers partner with One Communications as silver sponsors of the Komen
Pittsburgh Race for the Cure. Staff members and their families participate in
the race, which benefits Breast Cancer research. As part of Breast Cancer
Awareness Month, Steelers players, coaches and staff participate in "Denim Day"
each October and members of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority distribute pink breast
cancer awareness ribbon stickers at Steelers Experience before a home game each
year. Special Steelers Race for the Cure t-shirts are sold through Steelers
retails outlets, including the Internet, each October with the net proceeds
going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation
Pittsburgh.
Toys for
Tots-Marine Corps
Steelers fans generously brighten
the lives of needy children during the holidays by donating to the annual Marine
Corps Toys for Tots drive.
Underage DUI
Program - There's No Defending Underage Drinking
The Pittsburgh Steelers and the
Commonwealth of PA have teamed to discuss the dangers
of underage drinking, drinking and driving and riding with a minor who is
intoxicated. Cornerback Deshea Townsend and Punter Daniel
Sepulveda will visit area schools to talk to
students about the positive choices they made as teenagers and how they resisted
peer pressure when it came to underage drinking. One deserving male and female
student from each selected school will receive a
$100 gift certificate to American Eagle Outfitters. Four schools will be

Way
QB Charlie Batch serves as the
team's United
Way spokesman and makes several
appearances at corporate United
Way campaigns each year. The annual
Hometown Huddle is a program throughout
the NFL partnering players with local United
Way agencies to
encourage volunteerism and giving back to the community.
Urban Impact
Foundation
The Urban Impact Foundation is a
faith-based, nonprofit corporation which fosters Christian community development
on Pittsburgh's North Side. One of the ways Urban
Impact Foundation reaches out to the North Side community is through athletic
programs and events where many learn about the mentoring, educational and family
programs. RB Dan Kreider and several other players participate in a football
clinic held by UIF on Pittsburgh's North Side
each summer. Dan has taken a great interest in the program and works with some
of his teammates to donate money to the foundation for individual performance by
the Steelers each season.
Veterans/Military
Steelers players visit the local VA
Hospitals to spend time with the patients who have served our country. At
several home games each year, veterans and active military personnel are honored
for their service to America.
What Moves
U?
The Steelers, the NFL, the State of Pennsylvania and the
American Heart Association (AHA) created "What Moves U?" a new health and
fitness program that incorporates a classroom curriculum with physical activity
for middle school students. The
goal of the program is to combat childhood obesity.
