Steelers Release First-Year Running Back
PITTSBURGH — The Steelers announced
today that first-year running back Mike Jemison has been released by the
team.
Jemison, who signed with the Steelers on Feb.
17, played at both Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the University of
Pittsburgh during his college career. He originally signed with the New York
Giants as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2005, but was released from the
team's practice squad on Sept. 13.
Jemison spent the spring of 2006 playing for
the NFL Europe League's Hamburg Sea Devils, where he led the team with 368 yards
rushing on 101 carries (3.6 avg.) and caught 18 passes for 148 yards (8.2 avg.).
He rushed for 1,767 yards and 14 touchdowns on 323 carries (5.5 avg.) during his
college career at IUP.
