Steelers'
Safety Troy Polamalu
Promotes Teen Mentoring
PITTSBURGH —
Steelers' safety Troy Polamalu joined the
NFL-United
Way team this
summer when he participated in a commercial shoot on June 21 to promote teen
mentoring.
Polamalu is featured in a commercial entitled "The
Wall," a metaphoric spot in which the All-Pro safety supports and encourages
teens who are confronted by problems and obstacles that seem insurmountable.
Polamalu would like to help all of the teens, but he realizes that he can't help
the thousands of teens in need by himself.
This year's NFL-United Way PSA campaign conveys the
message that problems facing America's communities are too large to be solved by one person
alone and asks the viewers for help.
The new spots will debut during the NFL's 2006 Kickoff
Weekend and will mark the 33rd year of the
NFL-United
Way partnership,
the longest-running charitable collaboration of its kind. The series has
featured nearly 1,000 players and coaches.
New York Jets linebacker Jonathan Vilma, Dallas Cowboys safety
Roy Williams and Chicago Bears
center Roberto Garza also filmed
spots for the series.
