PITTSBURGH - The Steelers made a roster move today by
releasing second-year cornerback B.J. Tucker.
Tucker (5-11, 188), who signed with the Steelers last December, was
originally a 2003 sixth-round draft choice (178th overall) of the Cowboys from
Wisconsin. Tucker was released by the Cowboys prior to the regular season and
spent time on the Oakland Raiders’ practice squad before signing with the
Steelers.
Tucker was initially added to the Steelers’ practice squad on December 2,
2003, after rookie defensive back Russell Stuvaints, who was a member of the
team’s practice squad, was promoted to the Steelers’ active roster in place of
injured cornerback Chad Scott (hand). Tucker was promoted to the Steelers’
53-man roster for the final week of the season, but was inactive for the
game.
