STEELERS CHALLENGE KIDS TO TRAIN LIKE THE PROS

The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Gatorade Junior Training Camp on Friday, August 7, prior to the team’s night practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium. The camp will run from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the Latrobe Parks and Recreation Field, which is adjacent to Memorial Stadium

The camp is free and can hold up to 250 children between the ages of 7-14. Campers will participate in non-contact drills and pep talks showing them that there is much more to playing football than just having the right moves. Admission for the participant and one parent to the night practice is also included in registration for the Camp.

“The Gatorade Junior Training Camp is a great opportunity for young boys and girls to participate in an introductory, non-contact camp for all ability levels to experience how fun football is,” said Steelers Youth Football/Marketing Manager Mike Marchinsky. “To be a good competitor, it takes a good foundation of learning, a winning attitude, combined with the right training. These camps provide a strong foundation to develop skills and values that last a lifetime.”

The program emphasizes friendly competition over winning and teaches important values that can be learned from playing sports including responsibility, teamwork and sportsmanship. The camp also highlights basic health and fitness training for active youth and the importance of the proper nutrition while playing sports.

Participants must register in advance and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, as the camp is expected to fill up quickly.
